Architectural Designer for this conservation organization at the edge of Lake Fairfax Park in Reston, Virginia. The design involved a split between 2 sides of the new headquarters facility using a vertical circulation element space and a living wall of native vines to provide sun shading on the south facing facade. The entry sequence includes a bridge over a water feature complete with waterfall and pond element. Originally conceived as a poured in place concrete structure with exposed board-formed concrete detailing, last minute cost estimating converted the building to a steel structure, with concrete block replacing the exposed concrete elements.
